Occupations in science, technology, engineering, and technology (STEM), including those that make up the blue economy sector, are growing rapidly. Numerous STEM education initiatives across the United States have been created to help support the growing number of jobs in these fields. Despite these initiatives, STEM occupations are still plagued with hiring challenges such as attracting local talent and recruiting and/or retaining diverse employees. Representatives from workforce development programs across the country will describe the tactics they use to support a pipeline for local diverse talent to feed regional blue economy industry needs.
