This session will feature two panels bringing together representatives from the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) Regional Associations, federal agencies (e.g., BOEM, NOAA, USCG), and the offshore wind energy industry. The primary focus will be on discussing the needs, challenges, and opportunities in ocean observing data collection and access in relation to offshore wind development. Through cross-sectoral presentations and discussions, the panels will delve into the challenges and opportunities associated with ocean observing and data sharing for offshore wind development. Participants will share examples of successful collaborations and valuable lessons learned, aiming to inform interactions with the ocean observing community as offshore wind development expands to new regions across the country.
